The Family to Family model operates off of the basic belief that children do better in families.  If a child cannot remain safely in their own family, they wil do better ina  foster family that is willing to work with the birth family on better caring for the child.

Therefore the Family to Family believes that foster care must take on a more family-centered approach that is

  1. tailored to the individual needs of children and their families.
  2. rooted in the child's community or neighborhood
  3. sensitive to cultural differences, and
  4. able to serve many of the children now placed in group homes and institutions.

By utilizing the Family to Family model, ARCCC hopes to recruit resource families in the communities where children are coming into care, consequently reducing trauma for the children and improving collaboration between resource families, biological families and DCFS.
